Parents of chronically ill children have the never ending task of caring for them day and night. Some of these parents haven’t had a full night’s sleep since their child was born 10 or more years ago. Ann Townsend found herself in this position many years ago. Once her daughter got better and was able to live on her own, Ann was determined to help other parents who found themselves in this position. Thus, Grant A Dream was formed.
Grant A Dream’s goal is to provide parents of chronically ill children a respite from the day to day drudgery of caring for children that require round the clock care. Parents are asked what their dream vacation is. All some parents want is a chance to get away for a few days and sleep and unwind from years of unrelenting care-giving. Others opt for a place where they can hike, swim, or ski. Whatever their choice, all parents who have been granted a vacation by Grant A Dream are greatly relaxed once they return home from their trip.
These dream vacations don’t happen without funding. On April 2, 2022 Grant A Dream is hosting a Gatsby Poker Night to raise money to grant more dreams to exhausted parents. Whether you play poker or not this is a wonderful opportunity to have fun while supporting a great cause.
