I am conducting a “fuzzy sock” drive for Little Lambs of Hope.
Little Lambs of Hope provides care packages to the parents of babies in the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit (NICU). My friend and neighbor, Candy Payne, founded Little Lambs of Hope after her granddaughter spent time in the NICU when she was born.
My daughter was in and out of the hospital throughout her childhood. Her last stay was almost a month long. During that time, the Minnesota Twins visited the pediatric wing of the hospital and distributed t-shirts to the patients. That simple gesture made a huge impact, letting her and me know that we were not in this alone. And, that someone cared.
Soft, fuzzy, cozy socks will be a welcome addition to the backpack filled with a water bottle, a notebook for recording information from doctors and nurses, a book that explains to siblings what the new baby is enduring, and a fabric heart that the mother first puts on her skin and then is given to the baby. (The mother’s scent has been proven to enhance a baby’s outcome.)
Candy will be distributing 200 backpacks between now and the end of the year, so my goal is to collect at least 200 pairs of fuzzy socks.
Contact me to set up a day and time to pick up your donation.
Let’s let the parents of NICU babies know we care!
Additionally, my 4BR networking group will adopt a family for Christmas and provide them with dinner and gifts. Contact me to nominate a family.
